Nocona Lucky Paws Animal Shelter

Nocona Lucky Paws is a non-profit “no-kill” animal shelter that provides a safe haven for unwanted and homeless animals. Our mission is to care for homeless animals in our community and adopt them into responsible homes, as well as to advocate humane treatment and positive behavioral support. Lucky Paws is a trusted community resource for animal adoptions and overall animal care. Every animal is spayed or neutered before they are adopted. This is our commitment to the community. 

The City of Nocona is located along U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 175 in Montague County, Texas, with a population of approximately 3,000. Our rural community is a dumping ground for unwanted animals. Over the last several years, Nocona has seen an increase of abandoned animals. Most of these unwanted animals have not been spayed or neutered which continues the cycle of unwanted homeless dogs in our town. The citizens of Nocona acted and established our animal shelter.

In 2016, Lucky Paws acquired its non-profit status, and the City of Nocona graciously leased us the land for the new shelter. The new shelter opened its doors on January 16, 2017, and all kennels have been full with animals, we also maintain a waiting list, and additional animals being fostered within the community. All donations go to the care of the animals; no volunteers are paid for their time.
