At the Center for Creative Living, we know it is important for those over 55 to be around others because studies have shown that seniors who have the support of loved ones or friends are less likely to develop health conditions and more likely to have a longer life expectancy. So, we have been providing a meeting place for active senior citizens in the Lawton/Fort Sill area, since 1980. The CCL was birthed by Dr. Charles E. Andrus, who later shared his ideas with Dr. Charles E. Green, Dr. Royce Means, and Mrs. Lois Ann Smith, about our non-profit organization with the purpose of providing a designated place for seniors to come and meet social, physical, and intellectual needs.  Today, we continue to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere in which seniors can join others to exercise at various levels, play card games and dominos, quilt, paint, and attend informational workshops. We also provide opportunities to go on trips, participate in fundraisers and many other resources to keep seniors active and healthy.

In alignment with our ongoing  goals of becoming more financially self-sufficient, attracting new participants while providing quality services to a growing number of area senior citizens, and providing a safe and welcoming environment to help combat social isolationism in older adults, we have 3 current specific goals for the CCL. We need to update the center kitchen by replacing the sink, stove, and  countertops with stainless steel and update our center bathrooms by adding more accessibility options.  Finally, the Center for Creative Living currently serves lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to both homebound seniors and those that can come to the center to eat or take it to go, but our goal is to provide meals 5 days a week!

Who We Are

The mission of the Center for Creative Living (CCL), a community senior center, is to provide a variety of programs, services, and activities which further the physical, emotional/social, and intellectual wellness of the active senior citizens of the Lawton/Fort Sill area and the eight-county service area of the Association of South Central Oklahoma Government (ASCOG). Current goals for CCL include maintaining financial stability; attracting a more diverse clientele, while providing quality services to a growing number of area senior citizens; and providing a safe and welcoming environment to help with health and wellness issues older adults face. . CCL has been serving older area citizens since 1981. Though recent years have been difficult, CCL has turned the corner in fiscal health, as well as improving the physical plant and increasing relevant programming. Positive audits from the past four years reflect CCL’s ability to continue this positive trend.
