Boys & Girls Club of Vernon

Our club is a nonprofit youth organization that provides services and diversified program activities in these core areas: character, leadership, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts and sports, fitness and education. Our 2023 membership was 1211, enrollment was over 400 members daily. Our membership makes up for over 85% of the youth population in our county. For the past 61 years, the Boys and Girls Club of Vernon has provided a fun and safe place for the children of Vernon, Texas and the surrounding rural communities. Over 76% of our members are from homes that are living at or below the poverty level. Our club relies on the collaborations with other organizations within our community, especially the three school districts, to be able to do what we do for the youth of our community as the ONLY afterschool youth development organization in Wilbarger County. Since 1960, the Boys & Girls Club of Vernon has been affecting the lives of our community through our mission to enable all kids, especially those who need us most, to realize their potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

In our sewing and crochet classes, students learn skills that intertwine tradition and modernity. These crafts foster patience, attention to detail, and the joy of creating something beautiful with their hands.

We love seeing the joy on a child's face as they build and program their very own robot. Our robotics classes inspire innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that stretch far beyond the classroom. By participating in these electrifying sessions, students discover the limitless possibilities of technology.
