Strengthening Communities to Fight Hunger with Food, Education, and Advocacy!
The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank has been tirelessly working to combat food insecurity in our community since 1982. We partner with a wide range of organizations including food pantries, senior centers, youth centers, group homes, homeless and domestic violence shelters, animal shelters, and schools across 12 counties, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
We are dedicated to serving the most vulnerable members of our community through a variety of impactful programs. For instance, our Kids Cafe program provides warm and nutritious meals to children in the evenings, while our PowerPak4Kids initiative ensures that children have access to nutritious food supplements over the weekends. Our overarching goal is to ensure that individuals and families in need have access to nourishing food, thereby creating the opportunity for our entire community to prosper and thrive.
Things you should know:
- Our warehouse facility enables us to maximize your donations by purchasing items in bulk. On average, it costs $1.93 per pound to process food donations, whereas it only costs an average of $1.15 per pound when we can use donated funds to buy products in bulk.
- Our distribution numbers have shown significant growth, as we served over 3.9 million meals to those in need last year.
- In 2023, we witnessed a remarkable 29% increase in the number of families served at our Mobile Pantries.
- Through our Food Recovery and Distribution initiative, particularly through our partnerships with local retailers, we have significantly reduced local food waste. In 2023, we managed to recover an impressive 1,092,175 pounds of food, redirecting it from going to waste and putting it directly in the hands of our neighbors in need.
- Last year, we provided over 75,000 warm after-school meals and over 61,000 bags of nutritious, supplemental weekend food to food-insecure children.
- Our Social Services Dept helped 752 individuals discover, apply, and utilize benefits they were not aware of in 2023!
You can help us ensure that our community has the opportunity to thrive by donating to the Food Bank through Texoma Gives!
