LSED exists to strengthen families in proximity to the child welfare system through prevention, intervention, and connection to local resources in the areas of parenting, life skills, and foster care and adoption.
LSED operates three programs: Life Skills, Parenting in Proximity, and Foster Informed. With your support our programs can keep going strong!
Life Skills provides courses tailored to meet the needs of families, teens, and young adults that focus on progression of individual skills such as residential permanency & domestic skills (laundry, cleaning, etc.), and social empathy & professionalism (time management & workplace etiquette).
Parenting in Proximity offers a continuum of parenting workshops in a collaborative environment that aids clients in examining effective parenting strategies. Courses in PIP may include age appropriate parenting, parenting for children of certain age groups, special needs parenting, or co-parenting.
Foster Informed promotes fostering and adoption by providing information and coordinating discussions with interested families, assisting with home study prep, facilitating training, and making connections with other foster families.
LSED desires a successful expansion to serve more demographics in our community. Currently, both Life Skills & Parenting in Proximity are court mandated services through certain court systems.
