Easy Street Animal Shelter

Easy Street Animal Shelter has been serving the North Texas area around Montague and Cooke Counties since 2014.  Over 1000 dogs have come to our facility, who were either lost or homeless and our NO-Kill shelter has provided the needed care to assure they go to good homes. We are operated by a dedicated group of volunteers who, under the guidance of our director, and work to socialize and love each dog in need of our services.

Over the years, we have been an active part of the communities in our area and have sponsored events like, free microchip clinics, pet pictures with Santa and hosted vaccination clinics.  In 2022, we started a community spay and neuter program where we cover the cost, for area citizens, to get their pets spayed or neutered.  We have worked with other non-profit organizations in support of other events, such as a local 5K race, a Dachshund race and the local rodeo. We have also been a part of providing dog and cat food to area food banks and we were one of the founding organizations with the BARK Club Reading Program at the Saint Jo Public Library.

We are one of only two approved shelters in the state of Texas with the "Pets for the Elderly Foundation", where we promote animal adoptions for senior companionships, and since 2020 they provide a grant to help with the adoption fee.  In addition to our adoption support grants, we have received additional grants to help area senior citizens obtain needed veterinary care for their animals. 

We do our best to encourage good animal stewardship and share information and resources that will help pet owners provide the best possible lives for their furry family members. 

Who We Are

Easy Street Animal Shelter has been serving the homeless dogs of the Saint Jo and Montague County area or north central Texas since 2014. We work to provide the best possible environment for the dogs as we search for their forever homes. All of the dogs are fully vetted and microchipped before being adopted, so we assure the dogs are healthy and will be set up to have a great life when they leave us.

We have taken in over 1100 dogs from our small rural area and in addition to adoptions, we participate in transports and some of our dogs travel to rescues in Minnesota and Wisconsin where they are adopted out from our partner shelters.
